Can I still get another stafford student loan after dropping classes but not defaulting on my loan?

Okay, I received a stafford Student loan for 3500 dollars, but due to medical issues I had to drop 2 classes. Now, I was (and still am) a half time student still, so my loan did not go into repayment, but I was denied a loan for the following semester. I haven’t technically defaulted on the loan itself, and I have never been asked for a payment. However, if I try to get any money under the stafford loan program in the future, will I be denied for the classes that I dropped?

Yes. If you took a loan out based on full time enrollment they expected you to attend full time. You were likely denied for this reason and are usually expected to take a semester and pay for it yourself before you are eligible for loans again. (Your situation may be totally different, so definitely check with your school to find out exactly WHY you were denied, it could be many many many things. )

Students and parents who must deal with the high cost of a college education have available to them a wide range of student loans. This article offers details on three general types of student loans. Unlike other student loans, application for a specific Stafford Loan should be preceded by the filing of a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA application should be made in the name of the aspiring student.

Like some other student loans, application for the Signature Loan permits the use of a co-signer. In fact, there is a real advantage to applying for a Signature Loan with a co-signer.
