Do government student loans cover the entire cost of college?

I’m going to go to community college for one year and I’m getting a government loan (not a private one). I’m only 17 so I can’t afford to pay for any of it at the moment. I can only pay for it once I graduate.

The tuition at community college is $8,000.

Will a government loan be able to completely cover my tuition and books until I graduate? Or do I have to pay a small fee (like $400) a month?

Mine didn’t. Government loans are need based, and it depends on your family’s income. My tuition was 6200 (at a 4 year school) and my federal loans only covered 3200, the rest has to come out of my pocket or from private loans.

    $8,000 for a year at a community college? Yow-za.

It depends on your income. My family didn’t qualify for need-based aid, so I’m currently paying 20,000/per year for college. It sucks ass.
