Is there a way I can get a private student loan with bad credit and no cosigner on a past due balance?

I have bad credit and would rather not use a cosigner if I don’t have to. It doesn’t look like Federal Student loans are an option, since I missed the deadline even though I was told I could use one. Thanks for the help in advance.
At this point even if you have a co-signer, if the amount of the loan is very big lenders will not grant loans. If your loan is not horribly large possibly, but there is no chance of getting one without a co-signer if you have bad credit. There are too many people defaulting and banks have to take precautions. Just to let you know, the deadline for FAFSA (the application for federal loans) has not passed and will not for some time. Wait for your award letter to come, and you can talk to the financial aid office as well. But private loans are not going to be an option, sorry.
